About
est. 2019
Finely Tuned Elephant (est. 2019) is an instrumental jazz-rock fusion quartet based in Ottawa, ON. Over three albums and more than 60 performances, the group has built a reputation for technically demanding music that never sacrifices melody or personality, and for live shows that consistently sell out.
Their first two albums, Perfect Coincidence (2020) and The Fast Life (2022), were forged through years of performing, a process that sharpened both the writing and the chemistry between members. The Fast Life earned international recognition, with Jazz Journal praising the band’s inventiveness and energy. Since then, the group has delivered sold-out tribute performances of Japanese fusion legends Casiopea and shared stages with high-profile touring artists.
Their third album, No Goats, is out now, released march 27, 2026. Its title reflects the band’s signature blend of sophistication and humor: an exclusive “elephants-only” club where four goats (the band) are in disguise, seeking entry. The concept mirrors the music itself, intricate and carefully crafted, but inviting and full of personality. Each track is a distinct scene in a larger cinematic journey, designed to encourage a deep, visual listening experience.
The creation of No Goats marked a turning point. It’s the first record crafted by the full, road-tested lineup of Jordan Robinson (guitars), Cyrus Robertson Orkish (bass), Kyle Iveglia (drums), and Alex Lugli (keyboards). This new dynamic transformed their process into a genuine collaboration, with each member shaping the arrangements in real time. The result is a sound that is cohesive, nuanced, and deeply interconnected.
No Goats was produced with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council.
